In the just concluded election of the National Association of Osun State Students, National Headquarters, which held on Sunday, 28th of January, Miftahu Oyempemi, a 300L student of the Religious Studies department, Obafemi Awolowo University emerged as the President and was sworn into office after the election.

The election which was held at the Osogbo City Hall, Olonkoro, Osogbo on the 28th of January, had 61 electorates(delegates) in attendance, 2 from each local government and 1 from the area council ushered in Muftau Oyempemi and other members of the NAOSS National Headquarters into office excluding the office of the Director of Sports which had no aspirant.
Miftahu Oyempemi, who also doubles as the President of the National Association For Religious Studies Students, Obafemi Awolowo University Chapter, won his counterpart Folorunsho Olawale a student from Adeyemi College Of Education, with 43 delegates votes to 17 votes and 1 void. Consequently, the newly elected executives were sworn into office by the Electoral Commission of the National Association of Osun State Students.

Speaking on his victory, Miftahu Oyempemi extends his gratitude to the Executive Governor of the State, H.E Ademola Adeleke, Osun State Chief Of Staff, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye, SSA to the State Governor on Students Matter, Comrade Oladejo Bashiru Aderoju, and the stakeholders if the students body.
In his words, he said ‘I am deeply honoured and humbled by the overwhelming support I received from the students, stakeholders, and friends of Osun State in the National Association of Osun State Students (NAOSS) election held on Sunday, January 28, 2024. Your votes have entrusted me with the responsibility of serving as the new National President, and I am sincerely grateful for your trust and confidence in my ability to lead.

Congratulating him on his victory, SSA to the State Governor on Students Matter, Comrade Oladejo Bashiru Aderoju, congratulated the newly elected President and urged the new leaders with the responsibility of advancing the interests of the student body and encourage the president and other executives to prioritize governance over politics for the betterment of all students.
He further urged those who did not secure victory to unite with the executive team making the students’ interests a shared objective.
