The 2023 Students’ Workshop Experience Practice Football Competition for 200L students in the Faculties of Technology and Environmental Design and Management is set to commence today.

The SWEP program is an end of the session practical course for Part 2 students in Faculties of Technology and EDM in order to expose and prepare them ahead for the practical works before they embark on their first Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES I) next session.
On the other hand, the football competition organized by the students of the two faculties is an annual competition during the SWEP program in order to foster more interpersonal relationships amongst the students of these faculties.
The 2023 SWEP Cup is expected to feature twelve departments that registered to participate in the competition with seven departments from Faculty of Technology namely; Agricultural and Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering and Mechanical Engineering and five departments from Faculty of EDM namely; Architecture, Building, Estate Management, Quantity Surveying and Surveying and Geo-informatics.
With a total of twelve teams, three groups have been created and after the matches from all groups, the best two winners from each of the three groups and the best two losers in all the three groups making a total of eight teams will proceed to the quarter finals stage.
The first leg is expected to kick-off today Saturday, 15th of July, while the second leg to hold on Saturday, 22nd of July and third leg to hold on Saturday, 29th of July, 2023 respectively at the training pitches 1&2.
According to the committee, man of the match certificate will be presented to the best player after every match.
For the final, the winning team will be presented a cash prize of forty thousand naira and medals, while medals will also be presented to the team that finished in the second place of the competition.
Other awards that will be presented are Highest Goal Scorer, Highest Assist, Best Goalkeeper, Best Coach as well as Certificate of Participation for Finalists.
