Oluwafemi Olabode, President, ACJOAU

Olabode Oluwafemi

President

Oluwafemi Olabode is a passionate emerging Journalist, Political and Public Affairs Analyst, Public Relations Expert, Media Enthusiast, Award Winning Journalist and Media Personality, and Advocate of Media for Good Governance and Sustainable Development.

‘Femi is a 400 Level Political Science student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. He formerly served as the Editor-in-chief of OAU KILONSHELE News Agency clinching award to its honour as the Best News Agency of the Year in ACJ-OAU 2023 award night; Human Resource Officer, Students’ Media Personalities Nigeria (2021-2022) convened by the ace Sports broadcaster and Voiceover artiste, Anthony Dimnwaka Devoyce of NaijaInfo 99.3FM Lagos, Nigeria.

He has further established extensive footprints in Nigeria’s foremost newspapers with his impactful news stories. Femi was awarded The OHIMAI G. AMAIZE Students’ Media Personalities Nigeria (SMPN) Most Innovative Award in 2021 while also emerging as the Best News Reporter in 2023 ACJ-OAU award night.

Oluwafemi fondly called ‘Obafemi’ by associates and friends is a passionate advocate of Media for accountable leadership and development. He served as the immediate-past Public Relations Officer of the Association of Campus Journalists, Obafemi Awolowo University.

Olatimehin Esther

Vice-President

Olatimehin Esther Boluwatife is a dedicated and driven emerging Broadcast Journalist, Change-maker, Content Creator, Brand Ambassador, and Media personality. As a penultimate student at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Esther is pursuing a degree in English.

In 2021, Esther joined the Association of Campus Journalists OAU and established her news agency, Great Ife Network due to her flair for Broadcast Journalism making her the Editor-in-chief from 2021 to 2022

In 2022, She held the position of Assistant General Secretary of the Association of Campus Journalists at Obafemi Awolowo University

Esther participated in the Leadership Effectiveness, Accountability, and Professionalism cohort (LEAP AFRICA) in 2023 and she became the Assistant General Secretary of the Voice Against Rape and Sexual Harassment OAU Campus Club in that same year.

In February 2024, she served as Campus Ambassador for Shuzia OAU (A Community for Christian creatives). In March, she was selected as one of the 23 women in West Africa for the inaugural Empower Women in Media Cohort (EWMC) at the Center For Journalism, Innovation, and Development (CJID) and started interning at Roundcheck as a Multimedia Fact-checker.

In June 2024, she was awarded Best News Reporter (Visual) and she is currently mentored by mainstream journalists like Titilope Fadare on mobile journalism, Bettie Kemah Johnson on Fact-checking, Osaruonamen Ibuzigbe on Media Campaign for Social Change and Advocacy, Francisca Enchill on Evidence-based Investigative Reporting, and Adesewa Odusoga, a news reporter at News Central TV.

She has acquired several certifications due to her interest in Journalism.

She presently works as an Editor at True-Base Media and holds the position of Vice President at the Association of Campus Journalists, Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife.

Adeniran Tolulope

Chairman, Guild Of Editors

Adeniran Tolulope is a final year student from the Department of Physics and Engineering Physics, Faculty of Science, Obafemi Awolowo University. He is currently serving as the Chairman, Guild Of Editor ACJOAU.

He also formerly served as the Editor-in-chief of OAU KILONSHELE News Agency clinching award to its honor as the Best News Agency(Online Category) during the ACJOAU 2024 award dinner night.

He’s very passionate about his career in Journalism and always want to learn better. His passion for writing and Journalism earned him an award of excellence in 2023 and 2024 as the Best Upcoming writer and Best Article writer respectively.

Sharon Amosu

General Secretary

Sharon is a freelance journalist and a 400-level student in the Department of Linguistics and African Languages at Obafemi Awolowo University. She currently serves as the General Secretary of the Association of Campus Journalism, OAU, for the 2023/2024 academic session.

Her professional experience includes roles as Production Manager at Kowee News Agency and reporter for Campusexpress Nigeria. She has also interned at Soul 95.7FM Ibadan. Additionally, Sharon is a certified project manager and is developing a fashion brand, Star Brand.

David Ogunlade, Executive, ACJOAU

 David Ogunlade 

Public Relations Officer

Ogunlade David is a goal driven budding legal practitioner, Investigative Journalist and multifaceted individual with a strong passion for law, journalism, and leadership. As a sophomore law student at Obafemi Awolowo University, he has already made a significant impact in various fields.

With a background in linguistics and African languages, David’s journey in law began with a keen interest in international and human rights law. He is the Founding Partner of SUNVIC CONSULTING LTD, a rapidly growing organization in Saki, Oyo State, where he applies his knowledge and skills in legal advisory, marketing, and corporate regulatory compliance.

David’s leadership skills have been evident throughout his academic career. He served as the President of the school’s Press Club and Best Journalist of the year in high school. In 2023, he was the Secretary to the Electoral Committee for the Linguistics and African Language Students’ Association, and also won the Award of the Most Reserved Student. Currently, he chairs the Constitution Review Committee for the Federation of Oyo State Students Union, OAU Chapter, and serves as the Deputy Registrar of Magna Curia Chambers, faculty of Law, OAU.

In addition to his legal pursuits, David is an accomplished journalist and fact-checker. He has attended several journalism conferences, including the Fact-check Africa workshop, and has received awards for his work, such as the Best Collaborative Reporter award at the 2024 ACJ Dinner and Award Night. He is also the Public Relations Officer of the Association of Campus Journalists, OAU, and heads the correspondence chapel.

David’s commitment to social impact is evident in his involvement in the 2023 Presidential election, where he served as the Secretary of the Super Volunteers for Peter Obi in Saki West local government, Oyo State. His dedication to human rights and international law drives his work in various organizations, including the International Law Student Association, OAU, and the Clinic for Human Rights, OAU.

Through his diverse experiences and achievements, David has demonstrated his ability to excel in multiple fields, making him a promising figure in law, journalism, and leadership.

He currently interns at Chief Olawuwo Siyanbola Legal Practitioners, the first law firm in Saki and Oke Ogun region, Oyo State, Nigeria.

Ojegbola Mercy

Financial Secretary

Ojegbola Mercy is an emerging broadcast journalist and a 300 Level student of the department of English, Obafemi Awolowo University. Journalism, for Mercy, is a thing of passion. She was in her first year as a member of NASELS COMMUNICATION BUREAU awarded the most dedicated newbie and was in her second year appointed as the Deputy- Editor- In-Chief.

Mercy Ojegbola is currently serving as the Financial Secretary of the ASSOCIATION OF CAMPUS JOURNALIST, OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY and also as the Production Manager in NASELS COMMUNICATION BUREAU. She has participated in different Journalism workshops, conferences and Radio Tours. Broadcast Journalism being her area of specialty and interest has propelled her to hone her Voice- over skills and ability.

Mercy is a creative entrepreneur who own a fashion brand. As a multi tasker with a great enthusiasm in self growth and development, she has been able to unlock different abilities, some of which are at their peak and other still in progress. She has explored different aspects of life like sports, acting, public speaking and even music. Her budding desire to impact lives and serve humanity as a whole been her major push to volunteer for and join non-governmental organizations whose mission is to serve humanity.

Ogunwale Matthew

Assistant General Secretary

Ogunwale Matthew is a distinguished award-winning journalist and writer, currently pursuing a degree in Education and English Language at the Faculty of Education, Obafemi Awolowo University.

As a talented and dedicated student, he has excelled in his academic pursuits while also making significant contributions to the field of journalism.

Notably, he serves as the Assistant General Secretary of the Association of Campus Journalists, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), and works as a news reporter for InFocus News Agency.

Through his exceptional writing skills and commitment to storytelling, Ogunwale has earned recognition and accolades, solidifying his position as a rising star in the world of journalism.
