In the late hours of Friday evening, May 24th, an electrical fault was reported in Block F of the Muritala Muhammad Postgraduate Hall. Smoke was observed coming from the ground floor of Block F, opposite room 110.
According to an eyewitness, Popoola Blessing, a female resident of the Hall. ‘Around 6:50 pm, I was asleep when I heard some student shouting and instructing us to switch off our sockets. When I stepped outside, I met a girl from the next room outside then I asked her why people were shouting. Before she could reply, she started shouting, smoke, smoke, fire, everybody run, it can explode anytime. Then, everybody started running’.
Speaking to a Part Three student residing in block F of the hall of residence, she was so terrified that she took to her heels. According to her, it brought back memories of the fire incident that happened at Akintola last session.
‘For real, this school is traumatized. First, it was the issue at Amphi, then PG, I’m already stressed and choked with school. I can’t even return to my hostel to have a sound rest’. She said.
