In its attempt to promote selfless service, charity and goodwill among members of the club and other stakeholders, the Alpha Club, OAU has held its annual charity week.
The program which was held between Nov. 28 and Dec. 4th 2022 started with a free bus ride for students on Monday, a blood transfusion exercise in conjunction with Hama Health and National Blood Transfusion Service on Tuesday, Donation to the central mosque on Friday.
The club visited Covenant Orphanage Home, Ile-ife, Osun state on Saturday where food supplies, provisions, toiletries, and other packages were donated and rounded off with thanksgiving on Sunday, December 4th, 2022, at Our Lady of Perpetual Light, OAU.
According to Joshua Daniel, the Honourable Scribe, the event was an avenue to reach out to members of the community and aid them in any possible way.
“We believe that no one should be excluded from access to basic necessities just because they are unable to afford them; therefore, it’s our duty to try and bridge the gap between those who have and have not.” He reiterated.
He further said that their goal is to make a real difference in the lives of those who are less fortunate by providing access to basic needs, opportunities for education and development.
Daniel confirmed that Alpha club, OAU has received a lot of positive feedback from the community regarding the Charity Week. He noted that there has been an increased interest in joining the organization as people also want to make a difference in their communities.
“This is very encouraging as it goes to show that our mission is resonating with many individuals who wish to make positive changes in society.” He noted.
He appreciated the Media for their support in propagating their message while also extending gratitude to the University Management and the Student Union.
