The Great Ife Students’ Union is set to host the inaugural Yinka Odumakin Inter-Faculty Debate and Public Lecture on April 2nd and 3rd, 2024 respectively, at the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University. This two-day program provides an engaging blend of insightful debate and thought-provoking discussion on significant national issues.

Pa Ayo Adebanjo, Afenifere Leader, is the event’s chairman, while Prof. Adebayo Simeon Bamire, the Vice Chancellor of the university, is the Chief Host among other invited dignitaries.
“Nation Building: The Intersection of Activism and Politics” is the theme of the interfaculty debate which will come up on the first day of the event at the SUB TV room OAU. The winner of the competition will receive ₦200,000, the first runner-up will receive ₦100,000, and the second runner-up will receive ₦50,000.
The topic of the Public Lecture, which is scheduled for April 3, 2024, at Oduduwa Hall, is “The Role of Unionism and Activism in Nation-Building.” Femi Falana (SAN), a well-known human rights attorney, will be the distinguished guest speaker on this day.
The program is set to be in honour of the legacy of the esteemed Comrade Yinka Odumakin, an illustrious alumnus of the Great Ife Students’ Union, with the aim of profound discussions that resonate with the essence of activism, politics, and nation-building.
