The Great IFE Students’ Representatives Council Elections are yet to commence 2 hours after the scheduled time at all election venues.
Reporters of the Association of Campus Journalists who were at the election venues for each faculties confirmed that the Electoral Commissioners and other Ad-hoc staff of the Commission have yet to arrive at the venue.
In some of the Faculty venues, students have also been anticipating the arrival of the Students’ Union Electoral Commission at the venue to cast their ballots in order to vote for their interested candidates to serve their faculties in the Great IFE Students’ Representatives Council for the 2024/2025 Parliamentary session.
In a call, the Public Relations Officer of the Electoral Commission, Audu Abdulsalam, confirmed that the election was delayed by the commission due to an in-house budget and finance sitting of the Students’ Representatives Council.
Meanwhile, in a conversation with the Electoral Chairman, Matthew Ehondor, ACJOAU gathered that the election is to commence at 10 AM. However, further efforts to reach out to him upon the turnout of the event via phone call remain futile.
