Nigerian-born songwriter, music composer and band leader, Segun Akinlolu, popularly known as ‘Beautiful Nubia‘ and his musical band were live at Oduduwa Hall in OAU on November 2nd, 2023 for his schools tour across the country with the theme ‘Youth, Traditional Wisdom and Modern Knowledge’.

He joyfully performed the following songs of his; ‘Àsíkó Titó, Olófòfó yẹra, Bouncing Calabash, Òwúrọ̀ lọjọ́ ẹni ma ríre, Ìkòkò Àkúfọ́, Kurumi is on the way and Olúmúyiwá’ his just released album to commemorate the demise of her mother and many others.
Beautiful Nubia thrilled all attendees at the musical show with his songs, showcased his skilled body movements to beats from the instrumentalists.
At a time during the show, he stopped performing for a while in order to pass some strong message to all attendees, especially to students on how they can be the agent of change to all atrocities and bad governance we are experiencing in the country. He charged them to be truthful, embrace courage, embrace smart honest hard work, persevere, be patient in all they do, be humble and contented after they succeeded.
He further implored the youths to be tolerant of one another when they successfully find themselves in leadership positions tomorrow so as for peace to reign in our societies and be the really agent of change the country is craving for. He gave his two quotes to serve as the guiding principle in succeeding in life, His first quote is ‘you will not be happy when your neighbour is not at peace and you will not be at peace when your neighbour is not happy’. His second quote is ‘you are only as rich as the poorest person in your community’.
Finally, he expressed his disapproval on other musical artists and celebrities who undermine the importance of education over excelling in entertainment. He, therefore, urged all students to always persevere in finishing whatever they start no matter the difficulties. He used himself as an example of this when he shared his success in scaling through studying Veterinary for six years in University of Ibadan before crossing to music industry.
Opeyemi Akinseye, while speaking to ACJOAU correspondent said he felt the need to be a fan of Beautiful Nubia after experiencing his performance at Oduduwa Hall because he did view his songs to be boring earlier but neglecting the beautiful poetic messages of his songs.
In his words, he said, ‘I was actually not a fan Beautiful Nubia before. I only listened to his first album that my uncle bought then, but I felt uninterested to the songs because it is not that type of songs that we can just jump you know the vibes. I classified to be boring. But when I listened songs again I got to be a fan after seeing the wisdom conveyed int the man’s song’.
Another student too took to his Facebook account to make wonderful comment of the man performance in a group that saying, ‘the man is naturally gifted like no studio voice o and the song was sweet’.
Showing sense of humility at the concert, Beautiful Nubia made himself available some minutes after the end of the concert to take pictures with students, numerous fans and also gave out his autograph.
