The absence of functional street lights on some campus roads has become a major concern for students. The tall dense bushes along the Fajuyi-Market road pose a potential threat, potentially harbouring animals that could endanger pedestrians. Residents of ETF Hall and others who ply this road, particularly at night, are at risk. The only lighting on the road comes from the New Buka’s light, which is opposite the ETF Hall.
Also, the road leading to the College of Health Sciences from the SUB lacks proper lighting. Similarly, the road across Moremi Hall only has lighting from the fluorescent lights installed at the top of a block in Moremi Hall, and it is not illuminating up to the ‘As e dey hot’ area.

Likewise, in front of Alumni Hall, close to the intersection between Alumni Hall and Moremi Hall, there are two active street lights, but they are not sufficient to cover the entire area.
On the road leading to Angola and Mozambique Hall, the only light reflection seems to be from the Postgraduate Hall. Given the incidents at Moremi Hall and Mozambique Hall, the issue of lighting must be taken seriously, as hideous activities tend to thrive in darkness. The analysis of the incident at Moremi Hall suggests that it occurred in the unlit blocks.
The unlit paths pose a significant danger to anyone traversing them, particularly at night. Without adequate lighting, individuals are vulnerable to potential accidents or criminal activities.

Aanuolu, a law student who resides in ETF explained that he is “a victim of this deficiency”. He stated that he was coming from Fajuyi Hall on a particular night and unfortunately, he fell into a deep hole that got him wounded.
Aanuolu stated further, “This happened because the street lights on the road were not functioning at all.” He stated further that some street lights were working during WAUG but unfortunately, they are no longer working. ‘I would be very glad if they can work on this deficiency to make the campus a better place for us, he said’.
