The Students’ Union exists as a body that is saddled with the responsibility of representing the entire body of students at the university. It is a body that is established to promote unity, orderliness, and a smooth relationship among students, school authorities and society. Students’ union play a crucial role in promoting campus unity and fostering a sense of community among students.
In terms of promoting peace, the Students’ Union officers should always bear in mind that they were elected to serve students. Having this understanding will help them stay focused on the goals to be achieved.

The Students’ Union officers should not incite disorderliness, mayhem, and anarchy in the school environment. They are people whom the students look up to. As such, they should serve as models for moral uprightness.
Grievances should always be tabled reasonably and respectfully. Peaceful demonstrations should be chosen over violent protests. The Students’ Union officers, at specific times, will have to make the students’ grievances known to the school authority.

They serve as the bridge between the administration and the students, advocating for their needs and concerns. Modesty must be inculcated while carrying this out to avoid any form of escalated disorderliness that could, in turn, affect the entire student community.
Consequently, they should know that the union is not an autonomous body to rival or create a parallel administration in the university.

Accountability is very important in any administration. The union is accountable to all the students in the university. The accountability of a union is essential for building belief and trust. Periodically, reports should be submitted for public information and investigation.
Students’ union officers should be aware of their constitutional responsibilities. They should never ignore the welfare of the students. Joint interactive meetings should be held between the Union officers and the management to build confidence. Activities and initiatives should also be created to foster unity among students.
J.K. Rowling said, “We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided.” Unity is what can produce results. This can only be achieved if those in power know their responsibilities and are ready to include those they serve in their administration.
