The Students’ Union inter-faculty debate kicked off today Wednesday, 22nd of November at the SUB TV Room. Recall it was earlier reported by ACJOAU that the raffle draw for all faculties to pick their opponents and a faculty getting the Wildcard slot held on Monday, November 20th, at the Students’ Union Building TV Room

Two speakers were allowed to speak for each represented faculties in a face-off, and winners were announced based on the logic of their arguments, as well as their ability to present and defend those arguments, while also responding to their opponent’s arguments.
At the end of the Group Stage of the debate, the judges announced the faculties that qualified for the semi-final stage of the competition. The faculties of Education, Basic Medical Sciences, Social Sciences, and Arts were announced as the qualifiers of the rounds.
However, due to the absenteeism of the Faculties of Law and Pharmacy who were supposed to face off, the best loser in the group stage, the Faculty of Agriculture was announced as one of the qualifiers.
This will make the semi-final stage a total number of six teams with the addition of the Faculty of Technology who got the automatic slot for the semi-finals during the raffle draw.
The topic for the semi-final stage is ‘The Student Loan: Student Loan Defaulters Will Be Denied The Right To Electoral Franchise’ with Faculties of Education, Social Sciences, and Agriculture supporting and facing Faculties of Basic Medical Sciences, Arts and Technology who are opposing respectively. The competition’s Semi-final stage is scheduled to be held on Thursday, 23rd of November at the SUB TV Room.
