Ahead of the 2023 Ife Medical Students’ Association General Elections, the Students’ Representative Body has lifted ban on all campaign activities, starting from the 7th of November, 2023.

In a Press Statement made available to ACJOAU, by the Clerk of IFUMSA Students’ Representative Body, Hon. Amarachi Godswill-Nwankwo, state that candidates with interest to contest in the elections are now free to begin their campaigns activities.
This decision came on the backdrop of the decision at the 12th parliamentary virtual sitting of the association held on 29th September, 2023 in line with Article VI, Section 69, Subsection III (f) of the IFUMSA constitution.

Accordingly, in response to the release from the parliament, the Electoral Committee rolled out the election timetable.
According to the commission, the registration of voters, sales and submission of forms are ongoing and will end on the 12th and 17th November respectively. Also, the debates, speech night, and the Central Executives Council election will hold on the 23rd, 24th, and 25th November respectively. While the SRB election will take place between 26th November to 2nd December. The swearing in ceremony of the elected candidates will hold on the 8th of December.
Therefore, candidates are expected to adhere with the rules of the Electoral committee, maintain the highest level of dignity and integrity, and abide by the laws of democracy even as they kickstart their respective campaigns.
