The Great Ife Students’ Union of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ifé, has released a press statement, announcing the regulated price list for motorcycles on campus. The press release, dated Monday, July 31st, 2023, aims to inform union members about the approved and agreed-upon prices to curb extortion by motorcycle operators.
According to the press release, the listed prices represent the latest regulated rates for motorcycle services within the university premises. The Great Ife Students’ Union cautions union members against falling prey to cunning acts by some motorcycle operators who may attempt to charge higher fees. The union officers emphasize the importance of adhering to the stipulated prices and urge students to report any instances of extortion by motorcycle operators to the Student Union Building (SUB) for appropriate action.
However, the press release does not include a price list for buses. When contacted, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Great Ife Students’ Union, Comrade Elijah O. OMISORE “H2O”, stated that the union has yet to conclude discussions with bus drivers, hence the absence of a bus price list in the release.
The Great Ife Students’ Union, under the leadership of President Comrade Abbas Akinremi OJO “LoRdFeM“, reaffirms its commitment to protecting the interests of the student body. The PRO encourages students to reach out and report any cases of extortion or unfair charges by motorcycle operators to the union.
