The faculty of Education held its 9th induction ceremony for graduating students on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, in a colourful but tightly managed event. The programme, which began at around 10:00 a.m., took place at the Law Moot Court, following the renovation of the initially planned venue, Oduduwa Hall.
The ceremony opened with remarks from the University’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Abiodun Olarewaju, who set the tone for the day with instructions aimed at ensuring orderliness. Due to the overwhelming turnout, he directed parents to step outside the hall, explaining that the space could not safely accommodate everyone. Several students were also asked to step out as the inductees reorganised themselves into two lines for proper entry.

The event recognised 538 graduating students. Awardees and past deans were invited to join the inductees in the official procession.
Mr Olarewaju, who also led the national anthem, instructed security personnel to prevent anyone from entering during the anthem and throughout sensitive stages of the programme, a measure that maintained the solemnity of the occasion.
The Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Alaba Adeyemi Adediwura, delivered the welcome address, appreciating the resilience of the graduating students and commending the faculty members for their continuous commitment to academic excellence.
The ceremony was graced by several distinguished guests, including: Mrs Toyin Amusa, representing the Bursar, Mrs Cecilia Amosun; Prof. Kayode Amowo, former Dean of Education and Chairman of the Committee of Deans; Mr Josiah Olusegun Ajibade, pioneer secretary of TRCN and guest lecturer; Dr Roanoke Soyombo, Registrar of TRCN, represented by Ondo State Coordinator, Mr Akande Adeshina; Mr Ademuyiwa Oshimolowo; Pastor Emmanuel Olude Babajide and his wife, Mrs Babajide.
Honorary guests included the General Secretary of the Christ Apostolic Supreme Council of Nigeria and Overseas, Prof. Adeyinka; Pastor Okinlawo; Pastor Michael Oyeniran, ICT officer of the mission; Pastor Olarewaju Adeleye; Pastor Kehinde Ajibade; and Prof. Funke Bello, former Dean of the Faculty.
A notable highlight of the ceremony was the Oath of Allegiance, administered by Mr Akande Adeshina, symbolising the formal transition of the graduates into the teaching profession. The guest lecturer, Prof. Josiah Ajiboye, delivered a lecture titled ‘The Nexus Between Pedagogy and Technology.’
Prof. Ajiboye, representing the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), addressed the inductees, emphasising the importance of utilising technology. However, he cautioned that not all technology is beneficial, especially when dealing with children, and that professional teachers must use it wisely. He also stated that teachers should be able to handle new technology to create opportunities, referring to them as “teachers 4.0” who are capable of being creative and learning and unlearning. He concluded with the remark, “Education will never disappear; it will only take a new form. Technology will not replace teachers, but those who use technology will replace those who do not.”
Reflecting on her experience, Mrs Katherina, one of the inductees, described her journey on campus as one supported by God. She explained that it was not easy, but she managed to persevere. Coming to OAU was a joy for her, but entering the campus introduced an entirely different phase of life that many outsiders are not fully prepared for. Over time, she learned to adapt. She referenced a popular saying among students: ‘If you can endure OAU stress, there is no place in life you cannot endure.’
Speaking about her induction, she expressed excitement and gratitude for leaving campus. In her advice to OAU students, she stressed that while everyone studies on campus, the most important aspect is prayer. According to her, prayer is the key to success.
