Pandemonium rocked BVER Suites at the Maintenance Student Village in the early hours of Sunday 27th of February, 2022 following a power surge at the hostel which subsequently led to the anomalous change in the voltage of light and the wall socket of the rooms in the hostel.
The residents of the hostel trooped out to confirm the incident. In a conversation with some of the residents, they revealed that they ran out after noticing a thick red light and smoke coming out from the section of the hall generator while others confirmed that the surge was from the electrical section of the hostel and they had to wait outside for the Porters on duty to switch off the power supply entering the hostel before they could return to their rooms.
It should be recalled that the incident that led to the death of Ajibola Heritage, a part 2 student of the department of Linguistics and Africa Languages, few weeks ago happened in BVER Suites.
Amidst other controversies surrounding the hostel, the residents of the hall have called for the commencement of a 3-days prayer starting from Sunday 27th of February, 2022 and ending on Tuesday 1st of March, 2022. The Sunday prayer meeting which was slated for 06:00 pm was near disruption by the Porter on duty but another man who was present in the hall at that time calmed the situation. The prayer ended around 07:30 pm.
