The Great Ife Student Union, in a release made on Friday, 19th September 2025, assured students that there will not be any increase in school fees for the new academic session and also advised indigent students to apply for the NELFUND loan.
In the statement released and signed by the Adelani David, President, and Habeeb Oke Isa, the Secretary General of The Great Ife Students’ Union, students of Obafemi Awolowo University were assured that there would not be any increase in school fees, as there have been rumours of a possible rise in fees among the students following the release of the new calendar for the Harmattan semester.

The Student Body wrote to provide clarity and reassurance regarding concerns about a potential increase in fees. Following productive engagement with relevant stakeholders and representatives of the management, they are pleased to inform students that there will be no increase in fees.
Here’s the breakdown of the official fees for the just-concluded academic session at Obafemi Awolowo University:
ARTS / SOCIAL SCIENCES / LAW / ADMINISTRATION / ARTS & SOCIAL SCIENCES EDUCATION
• Freshers: ₦161,000
• Stalites: ₦76,000
SCIENCE / EDM / TECHNOLOGY / AGRICULTURE / SCIENCE EDUCATION
• Freshers: ₦171,000
• Stalites: ₦86,000
PHARMACY
• Freshers: ₦194,000
• Stalites: ₦109,000
COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES
• Freshers: ₦194,000
• Stalites: ₦209,000
In addition, the Students’ Union appealed to indigent students who may be facing financial difficulties to apply for NELFUND. The Federal Government, through the Nigerian Educational Loan Fund (NELFUND) initiative, offers interest-free loans to support tuition and upkeep for eligible undergraduates. This programme is designed to alleviate financial burdens and ensure that no student is left behind during economic hardship. Lastly, the Union assured students that they are committed to their collective welfare.
