The newly elected officers of the Great Ife students’ Union comprising of the SRC, CEC and HEC were inaugurated and sworn into office today, Wednesday, 12th of July, 2023.
The Inauguration and swearing in ceremony which held at the AFRIKA AMPHITHEATRE had Ojo Abbas AKINREMI ‘LoRdFeM’ sworn in as the Students’ Union President and other Union officers were sworn into their respective offices.
Building Bridges: Fostering Collaboration Between Students and University Administration
The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Simeon Bamire in his speech, charged the newly sworn-in Union officers to enable peaceful reign in their involvement while engaging in dialogue, rather than radical moves which is capable of creating violence.
He further stated the need for the Union to engage students in her activities that incorporate a safe living environment and co-existence.
The Dean, Division of Students Affairs in his address titled “Dawn Of New Era”. Prof. Isiaka Aransi urged the newly sworn-in Union officers to resist fight between the SRC and CEC, while also admonishing them to embrace dialogue in resolving conflict.
Ojo Abbas Akinremi ‘LoRdFeM’, the Students’ Union President expressed his gratitude to the University management and students. He further called for the collaborative support geared towards the sustenance of his administration.
According to him, his administration is centered on the three-point agenda “VEC AGENDA” that recognizes the challenges of students with the duty to ensure that their needs are met, and their voices heard.
“We will prioritize the effective welfarism of all Great Ife students. Our commitment to your well-being both academically and personally, knows no bounds”.
“From enhancing healthcare service, to expanding scholarship opportunities, we will strive to create an environment that foster holistic growth and support your aspirations”.
The Inauguration ceremony further featured the presentation of awards and certificates to immediate past Students’ Union Officers
