In a colourful and glamorous event, The Junior Chamber International Nigeria, Obafemi Awolowo University Chapter on Saturday 19th of March, 2022, inducted 146 new members into the organization. The event took place at Ogunbanjo Hall, Adjacent OAU Staff Cub where the Local Organization Chapter President, Miss Feyisayo Awopetu, declared the assembly opened at about a few minutes to 04:00 pm.
The keynote speaker of the occasion, Oluwatoyin Atanda who serves as the Executive Vice President (Southwest) of the organization congratulated the newly inducted members and charged them to be good ambassadors of the organization within and outside the University community. She noted that the organization has over the years been known for community impact, networking as well as business and entrepreneurship development amidst other developmental projects.
Professor Okoya, one of the organization’s staff advisers from the Department of Mathematics who was accompanied by his wife to the induction ceremony appreciated the JCI OAU President, Feyisayo Awopetu. He described her as a dynamic and hardworking lady who has handled and navigated the leadership role of the organization very well.
The theme speaker, Femi Adeyemo who has once served as the Local Organization President of JCI OAU urged the newly inducted members to participate actively in the programmes of the organization, using his own experience while on campus as examples.
The new members were afterwards assessed by the executives and board executive members of the organization before taking the oath of allegiance followed by the Creed.
Prof Lara Oradiya ably represented by Dr Adejoke from the Faculty of Education also charged the new members about impacting lives and giving back to the community.
Awards were presented to individuals and organizations who have been supportive of the development of the organization.
