The Great Ife Students Representative Council in her proceeding for the budget hearing of the 2022/2023 parliamentary year has kicked against the petition seeking to conduct Union elections in the Harmattan Semester subsequently.

A one-time Honourable of the Great Ife Students’ Union, Hon. Fawole Iyanuoluwa, from the Faculty of Technology wrote a correspondence to the house, stating that elections held in the Rain semester leaves disadvantage to some students and unable to partake in the exercise
According to the content petition, the conduct of elections during the Rain semester of the Academic Session is a disadvantage to part 4 students in the Faculties of Technology and Environmental Design and Management as well, as part 3 Industrial Chemistry students of the department of Chemistry as they are expected to be on their Industrial Training (I.T) attachment, as part of the partial fulfillment of the requirements for the award of their respective degrees.
Inter-Faculty Debate: Education, Arts, Social Sciences, BMS, Two Others Qualify
The petition provoked different opinions from the Honourable members of the SRC, as a large percentage stated that the petition is not worth to be considered because it consists of quite a number of loopholes.
Thereafter, the Speaker of the SRC, RT. Hon Yusuf Ganiyu asked Honourable members of the house to vote in order to show their interest or disinterest in the petition. Eventually, the petition was scrapped as larger percentage of the Honourables kicked against it.
