The Vice-Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Professor Simeon Bamire has disclosed that the university will graduate 5,852 at the 46th convocation ceremony of the university expected to commence on Wednesday 7th of December, 2022 to Saturday 10th of December, 2022.
He made this known while addressing journalists at a press conference on Monday.
Out of the 5,852 graduands, 4,114 are Bachelor degree graduates (Classified), 965 are Bachelor degree graduates (Unclassified), 712 are Postgraduate degree graduates and 61 are Non-degree diplomas.
According to him, 130 made first class, 1,323 made Second Class Honours (Upper Division), 1,991 made Second Class Honours (Lower Division) 636 graduated with Third Class (Honours) and 34 others would graduate with a Pass.
For the bachelor degrees (unclassified) for graduands from the Faculties of Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences and Dentistry of the College of Health Sciences, Faculty of Pharmacy and those from the Centre of Distance Learning, 7 would graduate with Pass with Honours, 28 made Pass with Distinction, 444 made Pass with Credit and 486 others would graduate with Pass.
For postgraduate degrees, Postgraduate Diploma has 17, Professional Masters has 403, Master with Research Thesis has 200, Master of Philosophy has 20, Doctor of Philosophy has 61.
For non-degree diplomas from the Faculty of Administration, Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Education, 2 made Distinction, 25 made Upper Credit and 34 others would graduate with Lower Credit.
Professor Bamire said Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, places much priority on the welfare, success and progress of students, hence the urgent need to graduate the students whose results have been approved by the University Senate, almost immediately after the suspension of strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
